John H. Doebling Sr., age 92 passed away early in the morning of January 15, 2015 at the VA Hospice Center in Lebanon, PA.
He was born on Halloween in the year 1922 in Phoenixville, PA. He was a decorated World War II combat wounded veteran of the Army Air Corps. Retired in 1982 after a long and fruitful career in the Pa. Game Commission. He enjoyed tending his garden and spending time with his granddaughters.
He was the oldest living Past Master of J. Simpson Africa Lodge No. 628 F. & A. M. in Stroudsburg, PA. A member of the York Rite Bodies of Freemasonry in Lebanon: Weidle Royal Arch Chapter # 197, Lebanon Council of Royal & Select Masters # 27, and Hermit Commandery # 24, Knights Templar.
He is the son of John Doebling and Gertrude Mable Bellis of Phoenixville, PA and is preceded by his parents, his brothers Robert, George (Bud), and sister Marian Kunsch. His wife Esther (Stepp) Doebling also preceded him. He leaves behind one brother, Donald Doebling of NJ; two children, Diane L. Doebling-Gehret of Sunbury and John Doebling of Harrisburg, two Granddaughters; Marian (Mazie) and Johanna (Joie).
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Fort Indiantown Gap Cemetery.
