OFFICER REPORTS:

Secretary’s Report:

Minutes of the last Board meeting were read.  No additions or corrections.  Thank you Pete for the notes and others for the corrections.

Treasurer’s Report:

• $220.63 in the checking account
• $74,378.99 in the Smith Barney Money Fund
• $74,599.62 in Total Funds
• $9,200.00 paid out to the Youth Field Day Shirt program so far in 2007.
• As of this date the Kayak Raffle has made $-223.11.
• As of this date the Gun raffle has made $7046.96.  Final settlement with Gander Mtn. has yet to be done.

Membership Secretary’s Report:

Jake Dingel submitted the following report:

• Total membership is 614
• 136 members have memberships that expired at the end of 2006 that are not included in this report.

Media Secretary’s Report:  None

Fish & Boat Liaison:  Tom Burrell reports that ten cadets have graduated with all going to districts.  The new supervisor positions for the regions are on hold until a new FOP contract is in place.  The WCO’s have decertified from AFSCME and the Region Assistant managers are almost out.  Guy Bowersox retired on June 30 and his position will be announced in late 2007.  Testing for the next training class shall begin this fall with the class to begin training in the summer of 2008.  Bureau realignment took place with the bureau of B&E moving to Administration.  Venemous snake training is upcoming for select WCOs in each region.  A DWCO training class is ongoing right now with 18 new Deputies in the class.

Game Liaison:            Tim Marks reports that a WCO class is currently in training with 23 cadets still remaining.  Field training will be coming soon and the class shall graduate in March.  At least 31 vacancies are anticipated by then.  Rich palmer is the new Director of the Bureau of Wildlife Protection.  Rob Criswell is the new SC Region Director and Steve Schweitzer is the new NE Region Director.  26 vacant districts were posted on 8/15.  New laws include the use of dogs in fall turkey season and farmers given the authority to hire others to shoot for crop damage.  WCOs were recently issued new body armor.

ONGOING BUSINESS:                                                                                                        

The Green Line/Membership Communication:

            A draft of the next Green Line was distributed.  The next issue should be in print by ????  Colleen needs someone to take on more of the work load on the Green Line.

Youth Field Day Shirt Program:  Two additional orders are in with one more on the way for a total of 49 for the year.

2007 COPA Field Day Event:

            The 2007 event was cancelled due to conflicts with the Boy Scout camp in Lancaster.  Looking for sites for 2008.  Two potential sites were discussed in Somerset County.

NAWEOA 2010 Update:

• Tom McMann reported that the F&B WCOs have been allotted up to 5 paid days per year to work on the 2010 Conference as long as they are listed on the “official” committee list.  F&B is also considering the possibility of giving work/training time to be used for attending future conferences.
• Jack Lucas provided the following report by proxy:  IUP has extended their approval for federal work-study students to be administrative assistants for the conference with a fourth being approved for work.  Dan Sitler, fundraising chairman, has been working with Consol Mining, Waste Management, the Mellon Foundation, Comcast Cable and the Meadows Racetrack and Casino in an effort to solicit major sponsors.  Mark Allegro has met with artist Jack Paluh on a fundraising scheme utilizing a Paluh print and the NAWEOA 2010 Conference logo to raise funds for the 2010 conference.  Pat Snickles and Tom Grohol have volunteered to work with conference registration utilizing a program developed by the IUP students.  This program will be utilized by Montana for registration in 2008 and possibly others in the future.  The next conference planning meeting is scheduled for August 27 at 0900 at the Four Points Sheraton in Cranberry, our host hotel.

Sale Items:

• Matt is looking at alternate designs with full color and the Green Line logo.  The price for a lure was reasonable.  Possibly looking at Turkey Calls as well.

Kayak Raffle:

            Tickets have been sent out to the membership.  The drawing shall occur at the October 14^th Board meeting.  More tickets are available.

2007 Rendezvous:

            Attendance was down with only 40 to 50 members and families.

Tee Shirt Program:  No Report

Staff Position:  Tom B. approached the Federation and the FOP.  FOP is in no position to afford a staff person at this point.  The federation has not responded.
